So back to English for this post again. As you may have noticed, I have started to write in Finnish in my previous post. I will continue posting my travel stories also in English, but the main language will be Finnish (at least for now, let’s see after a year how I feel…). But I had already promised an ayurveda-post in English so here you go!
I went for an ayurveda consult Pardaman Sharma in October and discovered that I am pitta. Pitta is a body type and determines what foods, exercise routines and daily routines work for me. The one hour spent with Pardaman and getting all sorts of information is rather quick and goes by fast but luckily you get all the papers with you home and hopefully have plenty of time to go through them. In a month you get into a rhythm of following most guides.

What Did I Change In My Life?
The biggest thing for me is going to bed at 10 pm and getting up between 6 am and 7 am. The second biggest thing for sure is changing my grocery shopping list. I’ve chosen different veggies, I’ve cut down dairy, I’m not eating many of my favourites (yogurt, honey, nuts, blue cheese..) anymore. And you know what? I do feel better! My energy levels are higher, I’m sleeping better and it’s easier to stay positive and calm in difficult situations. Also I finally have found energy for walks in nature: I walk 1-1,5 hour 2-3 times a week. And it feels good 🙂
This is not all up to ayurveda though: I also got nutritional guidance by Anna-Maria Kasanen and her tips on exercise and when to eat what have really helped a lot. So basically I follow ayurvedic food ingredients and Anna-Maria’s tips on everything else.
How Has Ayurveda Helped?
Like I said there earlier, I am more energetic. I feel like I actually have more energy to do the mandatory things and also have some extra energy for free time stuff. And after an almost a year of not having that, it feels amazing!
I no longer have such bad joint aches. I do still have them every now and then but they are not daily.
I sleep so much better. I wake up and I feel like… well, not on top of the world, but closer to it than what I used to!
I don’t feel like my head is in the clouds all the time anymore. Like in a bad way in the clouds. Everything felt foggy, but not anymore!
My eye sight doesn’t feel tired anymore. I used to feel like my eyes were lazy and slow to focus. This has gotten much better. This is one of the things I’m really happy about because this affects my driving and I don’t feel like such a risk in traffic.
My stomach is more at ease now. And to anyone suffering from bloatiness, gass or whatever, I don’t need to tell how big a relief this is 🙂
